At League, we believe in creating styles that not only look good, they do good. This is why we make many of our own products at our company-owned, social conscious facility League Central America (LCA), located in El Salvador.
Today we’d like to introduce you to one of our LCA team members, Manuel Hernandez. ManueI has been working for LCA for six years. “I came here after living in the United States for eight years,” he said. “In Miami, I got a second chance at life when I was treated for Leukemia. I always ask myself how God wants me to act, and when I returned to El Salvador, I knew it was my duty to help those in need.”
At LCA, that’s exactly what he does. “I started at League managing the program for ex-gang rehabilitation,” he said. “With the second chances that the company offers, I’ve become very close with people with needs, like our handicapped and homeless employees. I consider these League team members like Fernel, Rony, and many other like my family.”
He finds working with team members at League deeply satisfying. “It brings me great happiness to help these people by bringing them to doctor’s appointments, and getting their medicines, and to be on-call for whenever they need me.”
Manuel also has a big family. “I’m blessed with a great family. I have six children, some of whom work for League,” he said. “My children have allowed me to share my values with them, and they’ve taken on the responsibility to also helps others.”
Manuel values working at LCA. “League is a factory with many opportunities, and this is the new El Salvador for me and for anyone that wants to excel.” Thanks for being such a great part of the LCA team, Manuel!
League packed up and headed to the heart of New York State to visit the Syracuse University Bookstore at Syracuse University. Located at the top of a hill offering amazing views of New York, this college was founded in 1870 and is the home to the Syracuse Orange.
Working together with the bookstore, we designed a new League Concept Shop.
Inspired by the best of the all-American Lifestyle, League continues to be the collegiate sportswear company that you know and love today thanks to our fantastic team members. Our classic styles are thanks in part to the creativity of our artists.
Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristy O’Boyle, who began League as a temporary production artist in 2013. “I’m now a Lead Embroidery Production Artist and I also work with the design team to develop new women’s applique designs,” she said. “Permanently, I’ve been with League a little over three and a half years as part of the art team.”
We asked her about her favorite League products. “That is a tough call! Everything is so comfy and cute,” She said. “I love the All American Tank to work out in.” You will frequently catch Kristy working out or playing outside. “Going to the gym, hiking, and boating/jet skiing are probably my favorite hobbies,” she told us. She finds nature (and other artists) inspiring.
When asked about her favorite part of working at League, she said “I love that we don’t have to wear uncomfortable dress clothing. Being able to wear League to work (pretty much every day) is really great.” Her favorite League memory is the The 2014 League Christmas party at the Great American Pub. “It was so much fun! It was great to hang out with everyone outside of work.”
Kristy lives in the Lehigh Valley. “I grew up (and still live) there. It’s about an hour north of League. It’s a great area,” she said. “Everything is close by yet there are still mountains, lakes, and fields a few minutes away. Definitely not the crazy city, Philly life!”
Kristy just recently got engaged, and her fiancee proposed while wearing a League shirt! “It was a really great moment!” Kristy said. “We were camping with friends and getting ready to go out on the boat around 10 AM when he popped the question. What’s really funny is we both have the same Temple shirt that he was wearing. He was wondering earlier that morning how he managed to shrink his so much. Turns out he was wearing mine!”
Congratulations on the engagement, Kristy! We’re glad you’re a part of League!
