League’s Top 10 College Football Teams To Watch This Season

The college football season is in full swing, with plenty of exciting games already happening, (did you see that fantastic 63-yard, last-second Hail Mary by the Gators during their game against Tennessee?). We’re looking forward to the full season, but we’ve got a few teams we’re keeping an eye on this year.

Here are our picks this season:

University of Alabama

Not a surprise, right? While Coach Nick Saban lost many players to the NFL last year, there are still many excellent players filling the roster. Keep an eye on quarterback Jalen Hurts and junior wide receiver Calvin Ridley. Chances are the Crimson Tide will hold on to the top seed spot, and you can stock up on your school gear in our League Concept Shop at the University Supply Store!

Clemson University

Clemson lost a fair number of key players across the board this year, but that doesn’t mean the team doesn’t still have a lot of talent. Junior quarterback  Kelly Bryant has big shoes to fill, but with help from Deon Cain and Hunter Renfrow, the Tigers have a definite shot again this year. Find the perfect piece for this football season at The Tiger Sports Shop!

We’ll admit it: Penn State is one of our favorite teams, since they’re our neighbors. We have high hopes for the Nittany Lions this year, especially after their 56-0 blowout against Georgia State! Keep an eye on running back Saquon Barkley this year, quarterback Trace McSorley, and tight end Mike Gesicki. If they can beat the Buckeyes this year, they’ll head to the playoffs. Head to Happy Valley to grab your League gear at  Lions Pride and the Penn State Bookstore .

Syracuse University

Yes, we know- Syracuse has to face the double whammy of both Florida State and Clemson each year, thanks to sharing the division. It’s hardly fair. But coach Dino Babers brought the team to life last year, and his team has matured. With the help of quarterback Eric Dungey, we think Syracuse will pick off someone unexpected this year and make some waves in the division. Take a look at the Syracuse University Bookstore for a cozy sweatshirt to wear at all the fall games!

University of Southern California

The Trojans have a tough schedule with games against Standford, Texas, and Washington State, but quarterback Sam Darnold and running back Ronald Jones boost a great offense. Plus with the defense led by junior linebacker Cameron Smith and full of great players, they have a shot this year. Our concept shop in the USC Bookstore has all of our popular pieces to show your school spirit.

Florida State University

Last year was tough for Florida State with safety Derwin James injured for most of the season. Since James might just be the best defensive player in college football, the team will likely shine now that he’s back on the roster. Quarterback Deondre Francois had a good season last year, so expect to see great playing from him again this year. Pick up our tailgate ready styles at the Seminole Sportshop!

University of Wisconsin

With a schedule that boosts the Badgers, they will be the favorite in nearly every game this season (with Michigan being the exception, of course). Coach Chryst needs to push sophomore quarterback Alex Hornibrook to create a killer running attack, and then the offense should be solid. Our long sleeve tees at The University Book Store are fantastic for cozy Saturdays watching football.

University of Michigan

With eleven Wolverines called during the NFL draft in April, there’s only one of last year’s starters returning to the Michigan field this year. Coach Jim Harbaugh lost many of his best players—but have no fear, there are plenty of standout players left. Quarterback Wilton Speight is back after a great season last year, and sophomore running back  Chris Evans are just two of the standouts to watch this year. Stop in to The M Den and snag the perfect game day outfit.

University of Oklahoma

Quarterback Baker Mayfield’s talent makes the Sooners a big favorite in the Big 12. With a team lineup that’s red-hot team and finished the season with 10 straight wins, expect Coach Lincoln Riley to make a big show this season. Let’s see if they can top last year’s 17-1 conference record. The OU Bookstore carries all the timeless pieces you’ll be needing this football season.

Auburn University

Auburn returned this year with plenty of tough playmakers, and there’s no reason to think they won’t rock this season. Quarterback Jarrett Stidham (formerly of Baylor) will lead the offense, with help from sophomore wide receiver Nate Craig-Myers and running back Kamryn Pettway. The Auburn University Bookstore features plenty of classic silhouettes that you can rock at Jordan-Hare Stadium on warm Alabama nights.

While these teams might be the standouts this year, League wishes good luck to all!

New Concept Shop at NC State’s Wolfpack Outfitters Shop

League set up shop at the Wolfpack Outfitters Shop in the Talley Student Center of North Carolina State University. The new bookstore took five long years to finish, but it was worth the wait. The building is an incredible work of art that captures the spirit of NC State perfectly! Our team was fired up to tell our product story in this new space with a great opportunity to partner and expand our line with the Wolfpack community.

A League mannequin placed near a branded pillar shines a spotlight on this classic look.
The League space uses signage and props to highlight NC State’s culture.
A two-tiered display mounted on a column spotlights our Freshy Camp Ringer Tee and Shorts.
It’s all about the details! Howl at the moon, Wolfpack!
The transition looks amazing!

League loves being part of the Wolfpack!  GO STATE!

College Binge Drinking: Don’t Stall, Just Call!

College drinking is all too common. The National Institute of Health states:

“According to a national survey, almost 60 percent of college students ages 18–22 drank alcohol in the past month, and almost 2 out of 3 of them engaged in binge drinking during that same time frame.”

Binge drinking often leads to alcohol poisoning. Drinking too much too quickly can affect your ability to breath, your heart rate, your body temperature, and your gag reflex. This can potentially lead to a coma and death. Just four to five drinks per sitting can cause alcohol poisoning.

No one is more aware of this than Mary Ciammetti, founder of the non-profit Don’t Stall, Just Call. She launched her foundation in the Philadelphia area after losing her youngest son Christian to alcohol poisoning during his junior year of college. By the time paramedics arrived to Christian’s dorm room, it was too late. Tragically, he became another college student who lost his life to binge drinking.

Don’t Stall, Just Call is focused not on preventing college drinking, but on educating college students about two things: the symptoms of alcohol poisoning, and amnesty laws that prevent students from getting in trouble if they call for help while participating in underage drinking and partying. Here’s a list of the states that currently offer medical amnesty.  The Mayo Clinic has a more detailed list here as well.

Remember, if your state has medical amnesty, no one will get in trouble!  That means the person who is in danger or the person(s) making the call for help!  Medical amnesty saves lives!

Make sure you know how to dispatch help on campus for your friends if they need it. Also, it is important to be aware of the signs of alcohol poisoning:  stumbling, mumbling, cool to the touch, unresponsive, vomiting.  If any of these signs are present, be on the safe side, Don’t Stall—Just Call!
