LEAGUE’S STARTING LINEUP: MARIE CURCIO

At League, we’ve always understood that success requires a team effort, which is why we recognize our team members whose hard work and perseverance have helped build and grow our brand. Today we’d love to introduce you to Marie Curcio.

Marie has worked for League as an Account Manager since 2016, and like so many of our team members, she loves League gear. Her favorite item, she says, is a toss-up—between the Victory Falls Long Sleeve and the Victory Springs Half Zip. And League runs deep in Marie’s family. “When my husband proposed,” she told us, “He was wearing the 1636 Snap Up!”

Not long after the proposal.

Her family is very important to Marie. Her inspiration, she told us, comes from her parents. “They have been really good examples of how to be a good person and stay true to who you are in the face of adversity.”

When asked about her favorite League memory, Marie is quick to praise her fellow team members. “I know that I can always count on any one of them for a helping hand or a laugh.” Marie loves being a part of League’s Social Media Team too. “It’s fun to get to be a part of what is posted for our customers,” she says, “and it allows me to add a little creativity into my day.”

With her fellow Account Managers new and old.

When we asked Marie about her favorite TV shows, NCIS came up a winner. Her two all time favorite shows are The West Wing and Gilmore Girls.

Outside the office, Marie enjoys crafting. “It’s a pretty big hobby of mine,” she says. Not only does she make lots of items for around the house—she even created much of the décor for her own wedding! “I like to test myself to see if I can make something that I see instead of having to buy it,” she says, “it always feels more special to me knowing I made it myself.”

Speaking of weddings, Marie is a newlywed. Her favorite wedding memory, she says, is when the DJ unexpectedly called her and Dan out on the dance floor. “It ended up being like a second dance for the two of us with all of our friends and family,” she says. “It was a really cool moment and something I don’t think I’ll ever forget.”

When it comes to Marie’s secret for getting through the day, she says she just tries to always be positive or to find a positive in a negative situation. That’s some solid advice we can all use!  Thanks to Marie for being a big part of our League team!

League’s Starting Line Up: Meet Laura Brewster, Designer

League is the leading collegiate lifestyle brand that you know and love today thanks to our fantastic team members. Our classic styles are designed, crafted, and delivered to bookstores thanks to our behind-the-scenes team. Today, we’d like to introduce you to one of the team members who help to create our iconic styles, Laura Brewster.

Laura joined League just under two years ago, but she’s already made an impression. “I was hired as a Technical Designer, but now I’m working as a Designer,” she said. She attended Kent State University where she earned her Fashion Design degree.

In her non-work hours, Laura loves keeping fit. “I’m an avid runner, spinner, yogi, and Pilates do-er,” she said. She also loves to travel and this summer she enjoyed a solo trip to Portland, Seattle, and Vancouver. When asked why she went solo she said, “I went because I’ve never been, and life is too short.”

Her personal mantra? “Having a balanced mind and body gives you the strength to overcome all obstacles,” she said. For inspiration, she looks to her awesome mom, but she also loves reading Well+Good and WGSN. She also loves podcasts. “I am a big podcast listener,” she said. “I love The Daily, The Life Stylist, Mindbody Green, and TED talks Daily.”

She loves League products but definitely has a few favorites. “I love The Unwind Collection and our fleece turtleneck,” she told us. She also loves her team members here at League. “The people at League are the nicest, most genuine, and humble people I have met in Philadelphia.”

We are so glad that you are with us at League Laura!

League is the leading collegiate lifestyle brand that you know and love today thanks to our fantastic team members. Our classic styles are designed, crafted, and delivered to stores thanks to our behind-the-scenes crew, including our Account Management team. Today we’d like you to meet Sanany Chhun, the Web Image and Account Manager Assistant!

Sanany has been with League for 10 years and started in the Production Department. “I started out as a puller,” she said, meaning she pulled orders together when they needed to be shipped to stores. “Just eight months later, I joined the embroidery department as a machine operator. This year I was promoted to the Account Management Team and out of the production department.”

She thinks her League colleagues would probably be surprised to know she’s has three children. “Don’t let my height fool you,” she laughs. Her children inspire her. “My three beautiful kids — Makayla, Noah, and Lila — keep me smiling when things get tough,” she said. Working at League for Sanany is a family affair (we introduced you to Chhan, her brother,  recently). “Chhann Chhun and my Chhun family in the night shift also keep me going.” She’s also inspired by some of her supervisors here at League, including Billy Frederick and Lauri Winters.

She’s happy it’s summer and hopes to travel a bit. “I want to take a vacation with my family to LEGOLAND in Florida,” she said. Her favorite guilty pleasure? “I love good food,” she said. “Especially Italian. I enjoy cooking!” She grew up in South Philly, where there are many great Italian restaurants. “I was born here in South Philadelphia, and I’m not scared to share some of my Philly love,” she told us.

Of course, we asked about her favorite League products (because we all have them). “I like the Academy Crew and the Phys Ed Jogger,” she said. We love having you as part of our team, Sanany!
