Celebrating League’s Entrepreneurs: Stephanie Price and Jillian Skovran

Celebrating-Leagues-Entrepreneurs02

Since League was founded by a serial entrepreneur, we thought it would be great fun to highlight many of the businesses that our team members have launched — starting with NUMiNOUS Magazine founded by Stephanie Price, and Belletona Activewear founded by Jillian Skovran!

Combining A Passion for Design, Fitness, and Sewing: Belletona Activewear

“The idea of owning a small business had always been in the back of my mind,” says Jillian Skovran, graphic designer here at League. ” My grandmother, who taught me how to sew, started her own tailoring business. And my mom is the owner and lead designer of a flower shop.” But Jillian wasn’t sure what, exactly, she wanted to do. “It wasn’t until my first job after graduation, where I was designing sports teams uniforms, that I figured out what I wanted to do,” she says. ” My friends started joking, saying ‘well, Jill can just make us work out clothes…’ That’s when I started looking into it and realized it actually was possible!”

Jillian studied graphic design at Drexel University in Philadelphia. She uses a digital textile printing process to print her own designs on her tank tops, and then sews them all herself. The fabric is a 100% polyester performance piqué knit with a moisture-wicking, soil release finish — so it doesn’t stick to you when you’re sweaty during your workout.

Jillian launched Belletona in June of 2015, and is currently working on her Spring 2016 line, scheduled to be available in late March or early April. Tanks run from X-Small to XX-Large. Check out her website and Etsy shop and support Jill!

Fine Art Meets High Fashion: NUMiNOUS Magazine

“I was inspired to create a fine art and high fashion publication as an outlet for artists to be published in an elegant presentation that is viewed in print or digital form,” says Stephanie Price, production artist at League. “It is also a way for me to tap into my creative outlets by focusing on design and layout, developing and directing conceptual photo shoots, and hosting art and fashion events for the artistic community.” Stephanie studied art at Moore College of Art & Design here in Philadelphia.

NUMiNOUS Magazine launched on New Year’s Day in 2014, and is now published seasonally. The magazine features not only local artists and holds many local events, but features artists from all over the world. “In every medium, from fashion photography to illustration, NUMiNOUS is meant to inspire, encourage, and enlighten,” says Stephanie. “Our collection is scouted from the brightest submissions.”

If you’d like to submit your work to NUMiNOUS Magazine, you can do so here. You can also support the magazine by purchasing copies from their website or donating to keep the magazine going!
